Elliot’s Expose

Blog response instructions:

When Elliot writes about his experience with the Jock Rots and sends it out over the KidNet, he includes the following quote in his letter.

"I think people ought to realize that stuff like this goes on every day…The rest of you are all part of it-because you let it go on and maybe you think it's funny, or you think it only happens to geeky outsiders and kids who are smaller or fatter or skinnier or don't have so many friends or so much money as you. So tell me-what happens when you don't have so many friends one day, or you don't have so much money, or something bad happens to you?" (91-92)

Blog Question:
What is the message is he trying to get across to his classmates? (6pts)

Blog Answer:
On page 92 Elliot is writing down a message, after he explains his incident with the jock rots, that describes how his fellow students are the purpose of bullying in Parkland School. He writes that they play a part in bullying by not standing up for the victims of bullies, instead they just stand there and laugh while the skinny, fat, nerdy, and uncool p
eople get bullied over and over again. I think Elliot's message is that the kids should stand up for the victims and stop the bullies from bullying, instead of being a by standard and letting the victims get hurt. For example on page 58 and 59, the jock rots were holding Elliot over a river, on a bridge. They let go and he fell, coming back with a very badly sprained ankle and a minor concussion. This is how victims can get hurt if the by standards don't fight back!

The Revealers: blog topic: role reversal

Blog Question: After the Bully Lab was renamed, the Revealers, and the stories of the three Darkland students were released and well received by the student body, Elliot wanted to publish Russell’s narrative about Richie punching Russell in the face.
1) Why was Russell so opposed to the idea (pg. 110)? Explain. (4 pts)
2) What is happening to the relationship between Russell and Richie. (3 pts)
3) Two Peer Comments (4 pts each)

Blog Answer:
1) I think Russell was so opposed to the idea because he was afraid that Richie would read it and get the idea that Russell is trying to get him into trouble. I found this example on page 110. This is where Elliot is trying to persuade Russell to post his story about the time where Russell wrote to Elliot telling him the story of Richie hitting him.
2) The relationship between Russell and Richie is getting stronger. On page 98 and 99 it shows that Russell and Richie are having a conversation about how russell was standing up to Blanchette and Burke. Then Richie was telling to Russell that he can ask him questions anytime, but to just make sure its the right questions. They were talking sort of like friends.
